The Harpeth Hall School seeks a Middle School Math Teacher. We are looking for a teacher who demonstrates excellence in the classroom, encourages students to stretch their minds and expand their sense of self and enjoys working collaboratively with an engaged group of colleagues. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who is capable of teaching various levels of middle school math and who understands the best way to engage and inspire middle-school-age girls. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, colleagues, and families is essential. Experience teaching grades 5-8 math is preferred, as is an interest in curriculum development.  Candidates with three or more years of full-time teaching experience and a master’s degree will be given priority. A bachelor’s degree is required. 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach four sections of middle school mathematics with clarity, consistency, creativity, and joy.
  • Develop and execute lessons for multiple levels of math courses that correspond with the school’s curriculum.
  • Balance math department collaboration with independent work on unit and lesson planning, assessment design, and grading.
  • Serve as advisor to a small group of middle school students.
  • Participate in / facilitate extracurricular activities, enrichment programming, or clubs, as well as other community-building events.
  • Engage actively with grade level colleagues to support students and families.
  • Implement practices that foster the school’s values and a growth mindset in students.
