Level 1 Technology Support Specialist

Position Overview:
University School of Jackson (USJ) is seeking a Level 1 Technology Support Specialist to join our Technology Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is dependable, ethical, eager to learn, and enjoys helping others. No prior school IT experience is required — on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate with a strong work ethic and a service-minded attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first-level technical support for students, faculty, and staff
• Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining Apple devices (MacBooks, iPads)
• Support the use of Google Workspace and Google Classroom
• Learn and support Jamf mobile device management system
• Assist with the setup and deployment of hardware and software
• Maintain inventory and accurate records of technology equipment
• Ensure all tasks are handled with professionalism, care, and confidentiality
• Communicate effectively with users, offering patient and clear guidance
• Work alongside the Director of Technology on ongoing tech projects

Key Characteristics:

• A benevolent and approachable personality who enjoys helping others
• Ethical and scrupulous behavior, especially when working with sensitive data
• Willingness to learn new systems and tools
• Basic familiarity with computers, iPads, and internet troubleshooting
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree a plus
• Prior experience in a support or educational setting is helpful, but not required

Additional Details:

• Full-time, on-campus role aligned with the academic calendar
• Requires light lifting (up to 40 lbs) for tech equipment setup
