SUMMARY

Harding Academy in Nashville is looking for a Marketing and Strategic Communications Coordinator. 

The Marketing and Strategic Communications Coordinator works with the Director of Advancement and Marketing to implement the strategic communication and marketing priorities of the school.  This position coordinates the day-to-day communications that are directed toward advancing the school, school programs, and constituent knowledge of school related activities. This position also helps coordinate and collaborate with various constituencies on front line marketing initiatives and deliverables for the school. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Communications
    1. Ensure all publications reflect the Board of Trustees–approved mission and maintain consistency across all communication channels.
    2. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to define the scope, content, and timing of both print and digital publications.
    3. Assist in planning and executing key communications that enhance the school’s public image—including admissions materials, press releases, the annual magazine, letters, weekly newsletters, social media content, and Advancement communications.
    4. Support the school’s mission and leadership team by performing additional duties as needed.
       
  2. Marketing
    1. Develop and implement an annual marketing strategy and story arc that reflects the vision of the Board of Trustees, Head of School, and Director of Advancement. This includes key publications and initiatives such as CompassConnectionHawk’s Eye ViewExcellentia, Admissions materials, the Harding Fund, the Building the Future capital campaign, social media, Summer Programs, and the Insight Series.
    2. Ensure brand consistency across all channels and materials—including print collateral, marketing attire, school store merchandise, and athletic apparel—in alignment with institutional goals and messaging.
    3. Maintain and regularly update external websites to reflect current data, messaging, and imagery that align with the school’s strategic priorities, in consultation with the Director of Advancement and Marketing.
    4. Lead the design and production of all print and digital communications in accordance with brand guidelines. Assess and engage third-party creative vendors when necessary, in consultation with the Director of Advancement and Marketing.
    5. Execute the school’s social media and digital communications plan, developed in collaboration with the Advancement and Marketing team and Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with institutional vision and voice.
    6. Manage vendor relationships related to all branded materials and marketing deliverables, ensuring timely execution and budget adherence in support of the school’s strategic goals.
    7. Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and capture compelling photo and video content that highlights student experience, academic excellence, and community engagement, in alignment with school priorities.
    8. Partner with leaders of all sub-brands—such as the Harding Parents Association, Harding Art Show, Harding Summer Programs, and Harding School of Dance—to ensure consistency in brand messaging and adherence to institutional guidelines.

  1. Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
  2. Working with Adobe products (inDesign, Illustrator, etc.) to create publications and marketing materials that are on brand and of high design quality.
  3. Respectful attitude toward school faculty, students and parents. 
  4. Demonstrate a high level of work, personal and professional ethics.
  5. Enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of the Harding Academy team.
  6. Active involvement in school functions, goals, activities, etc.
  7. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, edit others copy, complete projects in a timely manner, and meet deadlines.
  8. Working knowledge of office technology including email, spreadsheets, written and electronic correspondence, internet, and health database.
  9. Understanding of website maintenance and updates.

Qualifications/Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college/university
  • Strong background (3+ years) in communications and marketing
  • Experience in graphic design
  • Knowledge of schools and educational landscape is a plus
