Mission Statement

Franklin Christian Academy (FCA) equips students with the knowledge and spiritual foundation to impact the world for Christ. The School Counselor plays a key role in supporting the academic, emotional, social, and spiritual development of students in alignment with FCA’s mission and Christian values.

Position Summary

The School Counselor supports students in grades 5–12 by providing guidance in the areas of personal and social development and spiritual growth. The counselor collaborates with faculty, staff, parents, and administration to foster a supportive and Christ-centered school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with academic, emotional, social, or behavioral concerns.
  • Promote spiritual growth and encourage Christ-like character development in all interactions.
  • Identify students at risk and implement proactive strategies for support and intervention.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional counseling standards.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with teachers and administrators to support student learning and behavior.
  • Partner with parents to address concerns and share resources.
  • Serve as a member of the school’s student support or intervention teams as needed.

Program Development and Leadership

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate guidance curriculum that integrates biblical values.
  • Implement a counseling program that focuses on all aspects of student health and is delivered through classroom lessons, small groups and individual settings.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives related to wellness, character development, and student leadership.
  • Stay informed on best practices and trends in Christian school counseling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in school or youth ministry settings
  • Strong Christian faith and active involvement in a local church
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to FCA’s mission, values, and statement of faith
