FRA is a coeducational independent school in Nashville offering pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students a challenging educational experience within an inclusive Christian community.

Summary

Franklin Road Academy seeks a long-term substitute for a middle school Spanish teacher. The term will last from mid-August through late October/early November. The position will focus on Spanish 1 and 2. Candidates should have experience teaching and speaking in Spanish. Candidates should desire to be a part of a collaborative faculty that resonates with FRA's mission to develop leaders of integrity in an inclusive Christian community. This position requires close coordination with other grade-level teachers. The department will meet regularly to share best practices and ensure a collegial atmosphere of growth and development. Candidates for this position should have a passion for World Language and have a desire to grow as instructors and mentors of students. All teachers at FRA are advisors of groups of 8-10 students that meet 4 times per week. Teachers are encouraged to integrate themselves into the school community.

 

Essential Functions

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Follow and modify (as needed) pre-planned curriculum to meet the needs of the class through the creation of assessments of various types
  • Serve as advisor for a group of 8-10 students
  • Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula, expectations, and best-practice pedagogy
  • Performs general teaching tasks such as tracking attendance, assigning homework, grading assignments, giving feedback, and communicating effectively with students at all skill levels
  • Maintains regularly scheduled office hours and other faculty responsibilities



Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in subject area or related field
  • Experience in teaching upper school students
  • Experience with current software, current hardware, and computer applications
