The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leading and managing all annual giving initiatives at Baylor School. In that capacity, the Director of Annual Giving, with the assistance of the Associate Director of Annual Giving and the Annual Giving Coordinator, will carry out the following duties:

  • Work as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to develop and set revenue and participation goals and sub-goals for each annual giving initiative, including the Baylor Fund, Baylor Backers, Giving Day, and other fundraising events.
  • Develop yearly strategic plans for annual giving. An Annual Giving Plan, which includes comprehensive calendars of appeals and publications for all annual giving initiatives, will be submitted to the CAO for approval no later than May 31 of each year.
  • Manage all annual giving budgets.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Annual Giving and Annual Giving Coordinator to recruit, train, and manage all volunteers necessary to the execution of the Annual Giving Plan.
  • Work as directed by the CAO, collaborating with the Associate Director of Annual Giving, to ensure timely and coordinated production of all direct mail pieces and digital communications related to annual giving initiatives.
  • Cooperate with the Office of Communications to keep all annual giving portions of the Baylor website up to date.
  • Direct the work of the Associate Director of Annual Giving and the Annual Giving Coordinator to ensure execution of all special events detailed in the Annual Giving Plan. The responsibilities of the Director of Annual Giving include the planning and execution of Baylor's Bi-Annual Auction, Celebrations, and Donor Stewardship Events.
  • Manage Baylor's Leadership Giving Societies, recommending premiums, privileges, and recognition events to the CAO.
  • Manage the identification and rating process for Annual Fund prospects, with assistance from the Associate Director of Annual Giving and guidance from the CAO.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of annual giving prospects with gift capacities of $1,893 -$50,000. Identification, cultivation, and solicitation activities will include at least 5 face-to-face meetings each month and a minimum 50 solicitations for $1,893 - $50,000 each year. Each action shall be documented in a contact report.
  • Oversee and manage the stewardship process for annual giving initiatives, ensuring timely, effective, and appropriate communication.
  • Personalize gift recognition correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Review and evaluate Annual Giving with the CAO on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Provide information for reports to senior administrators and the Board of Trustees in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in development or a related field
  • A documented record of successful annual gift fundraising is required, preferably in an independent school or higher education environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with prospects and donors
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Robust written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases (Raiser's Edge preferred) and the Microsoft Office
