Athletics Director Job Description

Reports To: Head of School

Position Status: Full-Time, 12 Months

The Athletics Director at St. Paul Christian Academy is responsible for cultivating the best culture for the athletics experience. With the objectives laid out in the St. Paul Athletics statement in mind, the Athletics Director ensures that each athletics team is centered upon these goals and aspirations.  The Athletics Director serves as a mentor and supervisor to each coach and meets regularly with each coach to give feedback.  The end state goal of the athletics experience is that each student is inspired in regards to spiritual growth from the experiences that athletics can bring and the building of confidence to step into leadership and a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of a team.  The athletics director works closely with each coach to cultivate the best experience for each athlete and team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Organization and resourcing of transportation to practices and games
  • Ensuring the communication systems are in place for each team to communicate very well with parents and community on any athletic event or practice.
  • Responsible for overall athletic experience from the practices to games to follow up pictures and awards.
  • Member of the Admin Leadership Team
  • Relationship management with key partnerships such as the field space at Belle Meade United Methodist Church
  • Roster size and number of coaches in place to support each team
  • Athletics budget
  • Resources required for athletics teams
  • Management and coordination of athletics calendar (games, practices, etc) 
  • Assessment of new sports and athletic programs and enhancements
  • Participation in local leagues/associations with peer schools
  • Leadership of school-sponsored soccer league
  • Partnership with coaches as needed on parent issues, questions, etc.
  • Lead preseason parent meetings

 

Other Possible Additional Duties:

  • Manage summer camps and leagues on campus along with Gym Space
  • Manage extracurricular opportunities outside of athletics
  • A small teaching load of either a history class or an elective
