Upper School Learning Specialist (part-time)

The Harpeth Hall School seeks a part-time upper school learning specialist. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered professional with an enthusiasm for working with high school students in an all-girls environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience as a learning specialist working with high school students. A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience and a master’s degree are preferred. This position is part-time (between 40% and 60%, depending on the needs of the candidate) for the 2025 - 26 academic year and will include teaching a Study Strategies class to 9th grade students and working with another learning specialist who will also be part-time.  This position begins August 1, 2025. 

JOB DUTIES

• Work with students, their parents, and their teachers when needs arise in the academic setting to provide individualized solutions for enhanced learning performance
• Provide referrals for students and their families when outside support is needed, including evaluations, therapies, or tutors.
• Work with students and families with diagnosed learning needs to determine support and provide an Educational Plan with accommodations. Serve as a liaison between teachers, students, and families in the coordination of the plan
• When qualifications are met, prepare College Board and ACT applications for accommodations
• Supervise and coordinate our peer tutoring program
• Teach classes in study strategies to 9th grade students
• Attend weekly and monthly meetings in collaboration with support staff
• Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide study skills and strategies
• Stay active in professional development and provide updated educational information to both families and faculty
