Bible Teacher (Full-time 4 or 5 days/week)
Senior Kindergarten through Sixth Grade
Immediate supervisors: Head of Lower School & Head of Middle School
Start Date: August 2024
Teaching Primary Purpose:
To design and implement creative, engaging, and differentiated Bible lessons for students in grades Senior Kindergarten through sixth grade that allows each student the opportunity to learn from both the Old and New Testament in a way that helps each student reach their God-given potential in a way that supports the mission and values of the school.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Specialization, passion, and knowledge for teaching Bible lessons to lower school and middle school students
- Organize, oversee, and implement a weekly chapel program for lower school and middle school students following an annual theme based around a school-wide verse of the year
- Implementation of Woodland’s Educational Philosophy
- Staying current with teaching strategies, techniques, and educational technology
- Consistent and clear parent and student communication
- Working collaboratively with administrators and colleagues
- Planning and attendance of field trips
- Participation on school committees
- Attendance and participation in divisional meetings
- Student arrival and/or dismissal duties
- Adherence to Faculty Guidelines
- Participating in professional development
- Supervision of students
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative independent school environment
- Support the school’s Statement of Faith in practice and lesson design
Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of experience in field is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred in related field
- Regular attendance at a gospel-centered Protestant church
- Valid teacher licensure preferred
- Advanced technology skills, Woodland primarily deploys Apple products across campus
- Ability to regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and visually identify visitors
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
