Robotics Assistant Community Coach

Job Description and Qualifications
FRA seeks a highly motivated and knowledgeable Robotics Assistant Coach to join our dynamic team and inspire the next generation of innovators. This position will play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring students who are on our robotics team. The Robotics Assistant Coach will work closely with students, parents, and other coaches to help foster a passion for STEM and shape a culture of excellence and camaraderie through competitive robotics. Ideal candidates will have robotics team experience at the high school and/or college level, an understanding of VEX equipment, and weekday availability from 3:30 – 5:30 during the robotics season, September – March.

Responsibilities:

• Preserve, protect, and promote FRA Robotics brand and principles, fostering excellence in all aspects
• Cultivate an enjoyable and inclusive environment, ensuring students feel valued and accepted
• Assist the Head Coach in ensuring students are trained in the safe and proper use of robotics tools
• Offer hands-off advice, following the VEX Robotics Coach code of conduct, to new members on succeeding as competitive roboticists
• Enforce safety and code of conduct policies set by FRA Robotics and FRA
• Collaborate with coaches to promote the well-being of FRA Robotics team members
• Demonstrate some proficiency in technical roles, including design and engineering advice, mentoring of students in the keeping of an engineering notebook, and coding
• During the competitive season, be available five days a week from 3:30 to 5:30 pm
• During the competitive season, be available for semi-regular weekend travel (excluding Sundays)

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in competitive robotics or related technical fields
• Exceptional interpersonal and mentoring skills
