Summary:

The Oak Hill School seeks a creative and collaborative Spanish teacher for elementary grade students.

Specific Spanish- related Responsibilities:

  • Introduce students to the joys and beauties of language learning
  • Help students understand the language, so that they are able to communicate orally and have an aural comprehension
  • Work collaboratively to plan and implement the full Spanish curriculum, grades PreK-6
  • Exhibit knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach the varying developmental levels of the elementary grade student
  • Develop engaging units and lessons that meet the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language) standards and use a variety of instructional methods and resources
  • Provide instruction in the culture of the countries where Spanish is spoken to develop an understanding of and appreciation for the culture
  • Use a variety of methods to assess student learning and to inform instruction
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Nurture the social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student
  • Communicate clearly, promptly, and professionally with students, parents, coworkers, and administrators
  • Learn and implement best instructional practices by actively taking part in professional development opportunities
  • Actively participate as a member of the enrichment team
  • Be a positive advocate of the school both internally and externally

Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Spanish, OR if native speaker, a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Education or Related field
  • Spanish teaching experience at the PreK-3 grade level is preferred, but not required to apply
